Definition Of:

Slice

Bible DictionaryTennis Glossary
The ball is stroked from high to low and spins backward. When it bounces the ball stays low and skids making it a difficult shot for your opponent to return. The ball stays below the net or at net level and your opponent most likely has to hit up to you to clear the net. Commonly used for volleys, approach shots, serves, overheads.
Bible DictionaryTennis Terms
A slice shot differs from a "drive" in that the backspin applied keeps it in the air for longer, causing it to travel further before bouncing.
