Lob

A shot used in defense OR offense to change the tempo of a point. It is primarily hit with a lot of height to get an opponent off the net, change the pace of a point or give yourself time to get back into position. It can be hit off a groundstroke or volley.

A lob is a ball hit in a high arc, usually over the opponent's head. For the most part it is played when the opponent is standing at the net.
